MISD Solo Festival

Students must arrive to Dowell 30 minutes prior to their performance time, and check in with the room monitor 10-15 minutes befor their performance time. The warm-up room will be in the cafeteria. No students will be allowed into the band hall after 4:00, so all instruments need to be taken home imediately after school.
Attire is "Sunday best".
Parents are welcome to attend the performance.
Ratings will be posted shortly after the performance has concluded.
A photographer will be on site to offer portraits of students with their instrument. They will be located in the hall entrance infront of the gym.
Spring Concert
Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 01:40PM Thursday, May 17 at Dowell MS.
Our Spring Concert is going to be an event for the whole family! All of our students in grades 6-8 will perform at 7:30pm on the front lawn of Dowell! Yes! This is an outdoors concert! Bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets! This will be an evening under the stars.
For this concert, all of the band students will be wearning their band t-shirt and jeans or shorts. We will have designated areas for students to store thier instruments, and while they are not performing they will be welcome to sit and watch with their families. Water will be available for students only. Please feel free to bring extra water.
Beginners band students will need to be seated to perform by 7:15pm. All other will need to be present by 7:30. Instructions will be given in class about set up and proceedures.
Beach Within Reach Band Festival

All Symphonic 2 band member will report to the Dowell band hall at 7:30am. Attire is concert black and white. Performencae time at the festival is 10:30am. We will take all of the students to Babe's Chicken in Frisco for lunch after the performance, so bring at least $15 to pay for your meal. We will return back to camous by the end of the day.
Symphonic 1 - Friday, May 3
All Symphonic 1 band member will report to the Dowell band hall at 8:45am. Attire is concert black and white. Performencae time at the festival is 11:45am. We will take all of the students to Babe's Chicken in Frisco for lunch after the performance, so bring at least $15 to pay for your meal. We will return back to camous by the end of the day.

MISD Summer Band Camp 2012
Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 10:32PM The band camp is a great opportunity for young musicians to continue performing and improving their playing in an encouraging and fun environment. Our instructors will continue to build the skills and confidence necessary for each student to become a successful band member. Students of all ability levels are welcome; however, you must be entering the 7th or 8th grade for the following school year. T
he camp will run from June 11-15th at McKinney Boyd HS. Each day will run from 8:00AM - 12:00PM and will include sectionals, ensembles, and full band rehearsals. After camp FUN TIME activities will be Monday through Thursday from 12:00PM-1:00 PM. On Friday, we will have a pizza party for the entire camp in the afternoon, followed by a finale concert at 2:00 PM for our friends and family in the MBHS auditorium.
On the first morning of camp, each student will need to be prepared to perform selections of an unaccompanied solo for placement in a band. Students will get to participate in a performing band conducted by some of our most outstanding and entertaining directors in the district. Each student will also participate in individual instrument sectionals, along with ensemble performances. We are going to have a great time playing music and making new friends!
